Frequently Asked Questions About Andersons Golf Products™

The Andersons completed its acquisition of The Scotts Company's U.S. professional turf business. The transaction includes a long-term supply agreement under which Scotts will use its proprietary manufacturing processes to produce value-added products for The Andersons. Specifically, the acquisition includes ProTurf®, Contec®, Poly-S® and other brand names, the distribution network, customer lists and exclusive rights to use all trademarks, patents, technologies and copyrights associated with the professional turf market. The transaction does not include use of the Scotts® brand nor does it include any of Scotts' consumer, professional grass seed or professional horticulture businesses.

Q:

What does the purchase by The Andersons of the Scotts ProTurf products mean for superintendents and other turf professionals?

A:

The bottom line for golf and other turf professionals is that they now have a single turf supplier that is able to offer the broadest line of premium granular fertilizer and control products, the highest level of technological innovation and application, as well as a tradition of customer service and support.

Q:

What brand will The Andersons use to market their expanded line of golf products?

A:

The Andersons is now using a new brand name to represent its products targeted to the golf industry. This new brand is Andersons Golf Products™. It includes turf care products marketed up to now under the Andersons Tee Time® brand, known for consistency and premium particle sizing. It also includes well-known and well-regarded turf care products previously marketed by The Scotts Company under the ProTurf brand. This includes products such as Contec®, Poly-S®, FF-II®, AccuPro®, Extend™ and ProPendi™.

Q:

How have The Andersons and Scotts products come together under this new brand?

A:

The Andersons will combine both groups of products targeted to the golf industry under the Andersons Golf Products brand. All future product information, promotional literature and other publications will represent the products under this single brand.

Q:

Why is The Andersons creating a new turf products brand?

A:

During the period immediately following the acquisition, The Andersons continued to offer products as Scotts ProTurf and as The Andersons Tee Time. At this time, the two product groups are being combined into one brand, Andersons Golf Products, to simplify the product offering for both distributors and end-users, while continuing to offer the same great products.

Q:

Are the Scotts ProTurf products and The Andersons TeeTime products going away?

A:

No. The same products you've known and trusted will be available as Andersons Golf Products. While the packaging design and appearance will change to reflect the new brand, what's "in the bag" will remain unchanged. Product codes and names will be kept as consistent as possible to make it easy for distributors and end-users to find their favorite products under the new brand.

Q:

Will ProTurf products based on Scotts proprietary manufacturing technology continue to be available?

A:

Yes. As a part a long term supply agreement between the companies, Scotts will continue to manufacture proprietary professional turf fertilizers and control products for the Andersons Golf Products line. End-users will continue to be able to purchase their trusted Scotts ProTurf products from their local Andersons distributor. Only the name on the bag will change.

Q:

How will the new product line be distributed?

A:

The Andersons is committed to a strategy of utilizing independent turf distributors. The Andersons believes that a network of independent distributors strategically located throughout the country will provide the quickest product delivery and the local product support today's turf manager demands and expects. The Andersons' distribution network will represent the product line to the golf market.

Q:

Will Scotts professional spreaders continue to be sold?

A:

Yes. The Scotts professional spreaders were part of the Scotts U.S. professional turf products purchased by The Andersons. The name on the spreaders will soon be changed from Scotts to Andersons. The Andersons will continue the tradition started by Scotts of offering premium quality professional spreaders to the golf and lawn care markets. The current spreaders, AccuPro 2000, SR-2000 and SS-2 Drop Spreader, will continue to be available to end-users from their local Andersons distributor.
